The format of the session of the thematic section "Media Linguistics":

Section "Media Linguistics: Research Prospects"


The work of the section involves the presentation and discussion of reports on a wide range of issues in the field of media research (current aspects of studying media texts; problems of the typology of modern media genres; active language processes in the contemporary media contexts; the processes of mediatisation in modern society; media impact; specifics of the English-speaking and Russian-speaking segments of modern world media landscape etc.).

Ø  Round table discussions:

Медиалингвистика: образовательные парадигмы» (основные задачи современного медиаобразования) ("Media linguistics: educational paradigms" (the main tasks of modern media education“)). The working language Russian.

Moderators: Prof. Habil. Dr. Lilia R. Duskaeva (St. Petersburg State University, Russia) and Prof. dr. Danutė Balšaitytė  (Vilnius University, Institute of Foreign Languages, Lithuania) 


Discourse analysis and other qualitative and quantitative methods of media studies: how do research methods narrow? Widen our vision of the field and object of media studies? The working language English.
